Hello friends. I really don’t feel like writing today but I’m trying to stay in the habit. Quick-fire notes it is…

  • Returned home from France on Sunday. I was there with Flowers to compete at the French Open. We won! It was an epic weekend, I manage to say a few words in French, and got lightly sunburned.
  • I came back to work on Tuesday and launched straight into a new project, including 2 x 1.5 hour kick-off meetings. It was a lot of information to take in, as other teams have attempted to solve these problems in the past, so we’re trying to absorb what they learned and build from there rather than starting from scratch.
  • The delivery community of practice asked me to repeat my ‘working in the open’ talk that I gave a few weeks ago for product managers. We ran out of time for discussion/questions so I’m not sure how well it was received, but I’m hopeful it will spark some ideas. This one was recorded and I’ve already heard from someone who’s watched the recording and is going to start writing this month.
  • I presented a few slides at a kick off session for the stakeholders of our new project. Generally I’m not a fan of presenting slides prepared by somebody else, but this felt like an important moment to ‘show my face’ and to take up a little bit of airtime.
  • Spent some time preparing for a scary meeting on Friday, and was somewhat distracted all week by the prospect. I can’t talk about it (yet) but needless to say I’m relieved that it’s over and I can forget about it over the weekend.
  • Worked with our service designer to prepare a workshop outline for next week.
  • Had a delightful catch up/pep talk with a friend who I worked with in a previous team.
  • Played 1 gig on Thursday night. 2 more to come this weekend. My shoulder which I injured last month is holding up to the task so far.
